Job Description

Nambé Pueblo is seeking a dedicated and experienced Tribal Administrator to lead administrative operations and support the Tribe’s strategic initiatives. The Tribal Administrator will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, implementing tribal policies, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations. This role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of tribal sovereignty and the unique challenges facing Pueblo communities. Learn more at nambepueblo.org

Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in tribal, government, or non-profit settings.
  • Knowledge of tribal governance, federal Indian law, and compliance standards and pueblo customs and traditions.
  • Strong organizational, financial, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to tribal values and community service.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for tribal operations.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and grant administration
  • Foster strong relationships with tribal members, government agencies, and community partners in support of Pueblo interests.
  • Advise tribal council on administrative and operational matters.
  • Provide guidance, support, and assistance to Tribal departments, programs, and projects.
  • Support the Governor in professional matters related to networking with internal and external entities.
  • Oversee all human resource needs among internal programs, as well as communications between the Governor and programs.
  • Ensure employees and programs have what they need to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Coordinate general health and efficacy check-ins of all Tribal programs.
  • Review daily Federal Register for grant offerings and notify the program managers of any relevant funding opportunities.
  • Suggest recommendations for sustainability and operation planning that will provide a streamlined approach for maximum tribal efficiency in alignment with financial resource availability.
  • Evaluate and oversee programs that are struggling to implement services or operations in a sustainable and effective manner.
  • Ensure all Tribal programs and enterprises incorporate Pueblo culture and heritage in management concepts.
  • Facilitate regular management meetings to ensure communication between personnel and division activities.
  • Encourage a positive working relationship between departments, and the community at large which promotes and enhances a positive image of Nambé Pueblo.
  • Provide regular updates of Tribal activities to the Governor and Tribal Council.
  • Communicates with and represents the organization to external agencies, consultants and other organizations and individuals.
Salary & Benefits

$110,000 - $130,000 Annually (depending on experience)
